Work to upgrade the northbound off ramp from Memorial Drive to the Princes Highway at North Wollongong began in November last year.

Work was required due to traffic in peak periods backing up along the off ramp and posing a danger to motorists merging on and off Memorial Drive.
The changes include reconfiguring the interchange to add a second right-turn lane, making two turn lanes in either direction.
The reconfigured left lanes were open to traffic last week.
“To allow further work on the median island and traffic lights, one of the two right-turn lanes will be closed until the project is complete,” said Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra Gareth Ward.
“The two left turn lanes will remain open.”
Mr Ward said work on the upgrade will continue on weekdays between 7am and 5pm, with some night work required.
The interchange is expected to be completed by October 2018.
