University of Wollongong PhD candidate and playwright Mark Rogers examines the rise in contemporary populism and the ever-changing media landscape through his work Tom William Mitchell.
It’s showing on August 11 as part of the Merrigong X series which provides opportunities for innovative and independent works as well as productions still in developmental stages.
“It’s one of the most exciting times to be seeing theatre in Wollongong ever,” Rogers said.
“Merrigong is really changing its way of engaging with Wollongong.
“The Merrigong X program is a great way to see works … that wouldn’t get programmed on the main stage, that are challenging, theatrically exciting.”
Tom William Mitchell follows a former fictional contestant from Survivor on his way to television news stardom.
