Crowe said Zambrero at the uni will open its doors in the UOW Pulse Building (building 11) on Monday.
He said along with providing fresh, healthy food with loads of flavour Zambrero does considerable humanitarian work.
So every burrito or bowl served up at UOW will help feed someone in need in another part of the world through Zambero’s Plate 4 Plate initiative.
“Zambrero has donated over 24 million meals through humanitarian partners Rise Against Hunger and Foodbank,” Crowe said.
“And now the students and staff at UOW can get involved in Zambrero’s goal to donate a billion meals by 2025”.
Zambrero was founded in Australia in 2005 by Dr Sam Prince and has over 170 restaurants across Australia, including one in Crown Street, Wollongong and Nowra.
Crowe not only runs some of the restaurants himself he is the NSW development agent. Which means he looks for opportunities and ideal locations for Zambrero and new franchisees.
“We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to the UOW community. We have been working for three years with the UOW Pulse Team to open a store and finally all the hard work is about to come to fruition.”
“The University and the UOW Pulse Team have been amazing as we have worked together to give the students and staff the tasty Mexican food they have been asking for a while now.
“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to contribute to open a second store in Wollongong and to support the Illawarra by creating jobs, and by providing access to a modern take on Mexican cuisine.”
