The Splendour In The Grass Sideshow was the first of three winter concerts in the new temporary venue at the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus in North Wollongong.
Despite an icy chill in the air and the outside temperature dropping to 10 degrees the circus tent-like structure kept the heat in and people happy.
The show ended with two of the band’s biggest hits – Joy Division and Tokyo – with several faux wombats and a cheerleader running on stage for a final dance.
Other musicians who performed were Skeggs, Elderbrook, Stella Donnelly and Pacific Avenue.
The next Big Top concerts will be all ages shows with Xavier Rudd on Friday August 3, followed by Sheppard on Saturday August 11.
