Emergency services were called to Hitchcocks Lane, near Huntingdale Park Road, about 10.20am on Friday.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a railing or scaffolding underneath the man, aged in his early 20s, “gave way” and he fell about three metres off a roof.
The man was alert and complaining of neck and shoulder pain, the spokesman said.
It is understood the man may have landed on his head in the fall.
He was bleeding but his injuries were not considered serious, the spokesman said.
The man has been taken to Wollongong Hospital for further treatment.
