Ben Abraham, Luke Symons and Scott Mileto knew each other in primary school but did not become friends until they moved to Wollongong to study at university.
Regulars at Howlin’ Wolf Bar as 25 year old’s they decided to buy their favourite watering hole two years ago when they heard Manny Mavridis was selling.
Their decision to pool their resources to acquire Howlin’ Wolf worked out so well they began looking for further opportunities. When they discovered Dagwood was on the market they saw it as an ideal location to expand their bar business.
“The opportunity came up and it was in the right place. You might as well have a crack while you are young,” Mr Abraham said.
The trio already had plans in another location in November after seeing a unique opportunity.
“In the old office of Births, Deaths and Marriages we are aiming to open a small cocktail bar called the Office of Births, Deaths and Marriages. It will be a Sydney style cocktail bar.”
Each of their three venues will be uniquely different.
Mr Abraham said the trio do not plan to make many changes at Dagwood apart from expanding the menu.
“It will have a definite food focus”.
