TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
It is easy to blame the 'big guys' for misuse of plastics but the states and the 'little guys' need to take responsibility too. Our Aussie states seem to have different policies on what plastic is recyclable, and what is not.

Is it really too hard for them to agree on a national, unified standard, even if it does have to all go into storage until it can be processed....here.
As for individuals, in Wagga Wagga I saw a brilliant advert made by the people who have to sort the 'recyclables'.
It points out that it is people not machines who have to deal with the revolting messes of unwashed containers.
Let's show it nationally to inspire the people, especially in apartment blocks, who seem to think that cleaning is someone else's job and 'out of sight is not my problem'.

WATCHING AND WAITING
The ratepayers of Dapto, are wondering when the grand opening of the Golden 50 metres or so will be on?
We have been watching and waiting for over 12 months for this little bit of road at the end of the Leagues club to open.
If this was a cycle way, which we have, and is rarely used.
But that is another story.

With the rapid developments in West Dapto/Horsley and extra traffic on Bong Bong Road it’s time that Wollongong Council, RMS and NSW Police made some Bold decisions on Parking in Bong Bong Road.
Particularly the Princes Highway end of Bong Bong Road.
Here are a few suggestions which I believe and many more users of the access road should be implemented immediately and at minimal cost.
1. No parking on either side of Bong Bong Road 6 am to 7 pm daily.
2. Move the taxi stand outside of these hours into Osborne Street a mere 50 metres from where it is now. Also establish a taxi stand during shopping hours 7 am to 7 pm in Mall Lane near the shopping centre. This alleviates having to cross the Princes Highway to catch a taxi and no trolleys to clean up.
3. Left turn only lane Bong Bong Road into Princes Highway. Traffic turning right can then cross over safely to turn into Moombara Street when needed.
Shoppers in Horsley/West Dapto area are still going to use Bong Bong Road until a much needed shopping centre is built in West Dapto. They will not use Fowlers Road bridge extension when it is completed?
These suggestions would ensure a better traffic flow and implementation would be cost effective and less congestion.

HARBOURING A GRIPE
So Gordon Bradbury thinks a $9 million spend on the harbour is overdue.
For 28 years the flooded residents of Bulli have had the deaf ear put to them when they ask council to correct their botched engineering which has flooded their homes and school five times.
The building of the aged care centre in the watercourse in Hospital Road will now send all its contents through Bulli high and the 20 ratepayers homes. Now this is what the real people call overdue Gordon.
