National finalist: Lisa Burling is in the running for the AusMumpreneur Rising Star Award being announced in late August.

LBPR managing director Lisa Burling is a national finalist for the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards.

Ms Burling has been named in the Rising Star category recognising exceptional first-time business owners who have been in business for two to five years.

She started LBPR four years ago when her second son was born prematurely.

A single mum of to two young boys Ms Burling came up with the idea for her consultancy on the kitchen table at home in Kiama.

Since then she has gone on to win many awards. They include regional recognition such as Illawarra Women In Business (IWIB) Business Woman of the Year and national recognition from the Public Relations Institute of Australia.

She has also been chosen as a global ambassador for women’s entrepreneurial movement Inspiring Rare Birds.

Being selected as a finalist for my entrepreneurial endeavors at the national level, means so much to me because it says I can hold my own when pitted against other mums around Australia kicking goals professionally, while raising a family

Ms Burling said this is the first time she has put herself out there nationally in a personal capacity. Not as LBPR.

“It’s a big deal for me. Being selected as a finalist for my entrepreneurial endeavors at the national level, means so much to me because it says I can hold my own when pitted against other mums around Australia kicking goals professionally, while raising a family. The fact the category is “Rising Star” means my work as an entrepreneur is only just getting started – there’s plenty more to come.”

The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The AusMumpreneur Network celebrates Australian mum’s in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation.

The awards are designed to applaud the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

“It can be challenging to run a successful business whilst raising a family, especially as a single parent. There are no ideal conditions to set up a business so just do it.

“My motto is fortune favours the brave and I will always choose to have a go, rather than regret not even trying. Anyone in the ring, doing their thing, deserves to be applauded.”

Mr Burling only has to wait until August 31 for the 2018 AusMumpreneur Award winners to be announced at the White Night Receptions in Melbourne.
