Welcoming schools from across the Illawarra with teams made up of indigenous students, the competition was won by the hosts, Illawarra Sports High.
The school defeated Warilla in the final and the students are looking forward to showing off the trophy in the Illawarra Sports High trophy cabinet for the next 12 months.
Illawarra Sports High’s Aboriginal Education officer Lisa Poole said the day was a family affair, with students and spectators turning out to celebrate indigenous culture.
“The students get great joy out of this and get to show how proud of their culture they are,” Poole said. “They also get to get with the other Koori students for the day from all around the area.”
