Ottaway – affectionately known as Nonna G to the reality television show judges – has created a pop-up menu for Nardi’s in Shellharbour for Saturday August 18 and Sunday August 19.
“I’ve designed a traditional Italian menu – any who comes, don’t eat for three days,” she joked over how filling the lunch will.
“I’ll come out and do a meet-and-greet when dessert is getting plated up.”
Ottaway’s signature gnocchelloni will be plated alongside a degustation of osso bucco, an anti pasto platter, octopus radicchio and orange fennel salad, plus the orange cake which “made the [Masterchef] judges go weak at the knees”.
Tickets for the one-off weekend of Nonna G’s Italian delights are $125.
The opportunity comes as Rick Stein’s at Bannisters has also called the Flinders grandmother back into their kitchen to help with one of their signature events.
“I’ll probably be alike a giddy little school girl,” she said of her impending meeting with the famous chef.
Two weeks ago Ottaway herself was met with fans – hundreds in fact – who turned out to see her live cooking demonstrations at Stockland Shellharbour.
Centre management told the Mercury at the time no-one wanted to leave the 90-minute workshop.
Meantime, the former disability worker doesn’t expect to return to her old profession but continue to ride the wave of success in the kitchen.
At present she is in the testing phase of particular products she would like to see sold on supermarket shelves but said she was taking the process in “baby steps”.
