University of Wollongong students who are considering pursuing a career in Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics are in for a treat on Thursday.
They will get the opportunity to meet prospective employers at the STEM Careers Expo, which will be attended by about 50 companies and organisations.
The August 9 event hosted by UOW Careers Central, will highlight the range of rewarding career opportunities that are available in the public and private sectors across a variety of industries.
Graduate Career Development and Employability director Nuala O’Donnell, said the annual expo was a fantastic opportunity for students to put their best selves forward.
“In today’s tough employment market, students need to take advantage of every opportunity to meet with potential employers and show their skills and get noticed,” Ms O’Donnell said.
“This is a great chance to students to find out about the fields they are interested in and have a conversation with the decision-makers at some of the country’s top organisations.”
The expo will also feature on-the-spot resume reviews, where students can have their resume critiqued by employment experts.
There will also be a photo booth, where students can have a professional head shot taken for their LinkedIn profile.
Dress for Success, an organisation that provides corporate clothing for women in need, will be offering tips on how to dress for a job interview.
Organisers are hopeful of attracting upwards of 500 students to the expo.
