Even well known Australian band Sheppard performed later in the evening as the University of Wollongong spared no expenses during its annual Open Day to win the hearts and minds of prospective students.
The thousands of prospective students who converged on the UOW on Saturday took the opportunity to talk to experts from all disciplines about the courses and degrees offered.
There were more than 90 information sessions held on August 11, covering all study areas, UOW’s Early Admission program, postgraduate courses, regional and metro campuses and UOW College’s academic pathways and vocational degrees.
UOW domestic student recruitment manager Brad Carter said the Open Day allowed students to find out what interests them and what the university has to offer.
“It really opens the world of university to future students,” Mr Carter said.
“It shows them the amazing experiences that are available by choosing to study at UOW.
“It is the perfect time to meet the lecturers, find out more about the facilities available, and enjoy the great atmosphere on campus.
“Open Day really helps to reaffirm to potential students that they are on the right track in making UOW their first choice.”
