David Goodall of Lighthorse Drive, Woonona, was already subject to a court order stopping him from going into the branch.
Police allege he broke that order recently when he entered the branch and verbally and physically assaulted a bank staff member and the manager.
According to the police facts, Goodall entered the Princes Highway, Corrimal, branch last month and headed to the customer service desk where the staff member was sitting.
“The accused said ‘I want my money!!!,” the facts alleged, “and the victim has straight away taken a step back.”
Goodall then claimed the auto teller machine had “swallowed” his card and he wanted his money.
The staff member looked at his account and found there was $44.40 but before she could help him, Goodall’s behaviour allegedly escalated.
“I want my f..king money, you f..king whore,” the police facts allege Goodall said to the victim.
“You’re nothing but a f..king bitch, get it to me now!”
The employee then cowered behind her desk while Goodall continued yelling and allegedly smashed his fists into a computer keyboard until it broke.
The bank manager tried to intervene by filling out a withdrawal slip for him, however the accused then allegedly put her into a headlock and “kissed her on the side of the face twice and said, ‘I love you’,” the facts claim.
After the manager escaped he then groped her on the buttocks.
The police were called to the bank but he left before their arrival.
He was found a short time afterward and, after he became verbally aggressive with police he was placed under arrest.
In Wollongong Bail Court, police prosecutor Sergeant Shannon Ryan opposed bail, citing concerns for the safety of the victims and the likelihood of further offences.
“The fixation he has with the bank and the people who work there” showed Goodall was unlikely to follow any bail conditions.
“It would appear Mr Goodall has limited insight into how his behaviour affected the community,” Sgt Ryan said.
Legal Aid solicitor Claire Carpenter said she had not been given any directions from Goodall.
Appearing via CCTV, Goodall made a rambling statement alleging corruption, a lack of attention being paid by court staff and a desire to see sunshine.
The registrar formally declined bail for Goodall, putting him down to return to court on August 13 – at which point the accused asked “am I going home soon?”
