About 1500 fans attended the gig at UOW’s Innovation Campus in North Wollongong on Saturday night
And they didn’t go home disappointed, with the Indie pop sensations in fine form.
Fittingly the all-ages concert marked the start of Sheppard’s national tour.
Yours and Owls co-founder Ben Tillman said Sheppard were fantastic on the night.
“It was a great way to wrap up the series,” he said.
“I’m very happy with how it has gone. It [Big Top} was a bit of an experiment to be honest but it produced a good environment and great atmosphere.
“I’m definitely very happy. Holding it again is definitely worth considering.”
The Sheppard performance coincided with the University of Wollongong’s annual Open Day.
Tillman said running events to tie in with the university’s agenda was beneficial.
“It does help but I couldn’t tell you the direct outcome from that. I do know the show went well and there were a lot of young people in the crowd,” he said.
Liverpool pop group The Wombats were the first to perform to thousands of music fans under the Yours and Owls Big Top.
The Splendour In The Grass Sideshow was the first of three winter concerts.
Xavier Rudd played the second gig on August 3, with Sheppard wrapping up the Yours and Owls Big Top series on August 11.
