Court documents claim the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been involved in a “serious incident” with Family and Community Services a few days prior, prompting the service to remove the children from the woman’s care.

It is alleged the woman rang the two northern Illawarra schools on Monday morning within minutes of each other to make the threats.

“There’s a bomb in the school, you need to evacuate,” the woman allegedly screamed down the phone before hanging up.

Four minutes later she allegedly called the second school and said “I’ve put a bomb in the school, I will blow it up.”

Both schools were immediately evacuated.

Police attended and carried out a thorough search of each school however nothing adverse was discovered.

Officers arrested the woman at house in Farmborough Heights a short time later and took her to Wollongong Police Station.

It is alleged she made further threats against the school while in custody, at one stage saying “next time I will actually blow it up”, before saying “I only called the schools and made the bomb threats because I wanted to see my babies”.

The woman was charged with two counts each of giving false information person/property in danger, using a carriage service to make hoax threat, and assaulting police.

In court on Tuesday, defence lawyer Paul Cramer said a friend had agreed to house the woman and take responsibility for her if she was released on bail.

Magistrate Peter Thompson agreed to release the woman on the condition she surrender her mobile phone and not approach of contact anyone from the school or from FACS.

The case will return to court next month.
