The glitch affected a string of Coles outlets nationwide including in capital cities and regional areas.
The outage affected some but not all outlets. Some stores had reopened before 10am. Others were open early, but closed again later.
Wollongong’s Coles store, inside Wollongong Central, was shut for a short time on Sunday morning. However, the store has since reopened and was operational at 10am.
Coles confirmed some “minor IT problems” had affected some supermarkets, “which were out of our team members’ control”, but all were now open and trading.
“We apologise for any inconvenience our customers experienced earlier this morning," Coles said in a statement just after 10am.
“All Coles supermarkets are open and trading.”
