The Illawarra Academy of Sport has recruited a new Athlete Coach and Program Manager as it plans further expansion ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Former international triathlete Dane Robinson has opted to move to the Ilawarra from Queensland to act in the vital role in order to help the region’s best athletes fulfill their potential and achieve their dreams in their chosen sport.

IAS chief executive John Armstrong said the hiring was a major boost for the academy as it continues to provide opportunities to junior athletes.

Robinson has extensive experience working in high school sport and is excited to hit the ground running.

“I’m thrilled to take on this challenging role where I can play a pivotal role in the training and development of these talented young athletes,” Robinson said.

“I’m looking forward to building a life in the Illawarra and bringing up my family on the South Coast”.
