Crew aboard the Toll Rescue Helicopter winched the man to safety about 3.30pm on Wednesday.
He has been taken to Wollongong Hospital.
NSW Ambulance received a call about 11.50am, reporting a 23-year-old man had been injured in bushland about 1.5kms off a fire trail.
The man was conscious and breathing.
With no vehicle access, police and firefighters involved in the job are still walking out of the bush.
