Wollongong Emergency Family Housing has reached the semi-finals of the Awards Australia ‘Business Achievement Award’.
The honour is part of the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
The next round of judging, which determines the finalists of the ‘Business Achievement Award’ is taking place on Wednesday, September 26.
Winners will be announced on November 16.
Wollongong Emergency Family Housing is a registered not-for-profit charity.
“We are excited to be recognised for the work that Wollongong Emergency Family Housing does in the community, which would not be possible without the ongoing community support,” Mandy Booker, manager of Wollongong Emergency Family Housing and Wollongong Homeless Hub said.
WEFH works under a community management model to support families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to either keep their existing accommodation or attain and keep new tenancies through a combination of early intervention, case management, referral, advocacy and information.
Additionally, WEFH provides support and transitional accommodation (depending on vacancies) to individuals and families in crisis.
Meanwhile, Denika Kenworthy from the Illawarra Women's Health Centre has reached the semi-finals of the ‘Connecting Communities Award’, also part of the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
Quota International of the Leisure Coast Inc of Unanderra has also reached the semi-finals of the ‘Women Creating Change Award’.
