A Sanctuary Point woman charged with manslaughter after allegedly stabbing her son to death earlier this week has faced court for the first time.

Avian Meller, 66, allegedly stabbed her 27-year-old son, Daniel Russell, in the left shoulder with a knife last Tuesday at a Sanctuary Point home between 9pm and 9.30pm.
Meller was granted conditional bail before appearing in front of a court registrar at Nowra Local Court Friday, September 14.
According to court papers, Meller was bailed because of her strong community ties, non-existent criminal record, and remorse for her actions.
The papers said Meller was unlikely to commit “further acts of violence” while in the community.
Bail conditions state Meller must report to police three days a week and cannot leave the country.
Represented by Legal Aid on Friday, Meller’s case was adjourned to Nowra Local Court on December 21.
