3:30pm: A grass fire which ripped through two acres of bush at Primbee is now out.
Fire and Rescue NSW duty commander Illawarra, Inspector Jay Bland, praised the swift actions of firefighters in extinguishing the blaze during strong north easterly winds.
“We had two properties under threat on Overhill Road,” Inspector Bland said.
“The occupants of those properties were evacuated, however quick action from attending crews ... knocked that fire down rapidly.”
Six horses were also evacuated from a nearby paddock.
Police were in attendance also.
Whether the cause of the fire was due to suspicious circumstances is currently being investigated.
1.20pm: It’s believed firefighters have taken the upper hand on a grass fire at Primbee with the blaze now under control.
“We’ve probably got another hour of mopping up to do,” a Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said.
“At this stage we’ve contained the threat to properties. There are four stations on site at the moment.”
1.10pm: Two properties are reported to be at risk due to a grass fire at Primbee on Monday.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said they received a callout at 12.33pm to attend a grass fire located in an approximately two-acre area.
The spokesperson said two properties were at risk at Government Road.
Two Fire and Rescue crews are on the scene and their efforts are ongoing, with their duties including property protection.
