In a coup for the association, former world champion Michelle Martin will attend the dinner as the guest speaker.
Martin will also run a coaching session for a small number of fortunate guests.
The dinner will be held at Dapto leagues Club on Saturday October 27 and Squash Illawarra’s Troy Mountford is looking forward to hearing from one of the best squash players in the world in the 1990s.
“It’s great to have Michelle coming down for the dinner and to do some coaching as well,” Mountford said.
“Her credentials speak for themselves, a world champion, world number one. She’ll be talking about some of her career highlights and it’s going to be a great night.
“Anyone involved in squash throughout the past 60 years is invited to attend. It will be a good opportunity to catch up with some old faces, some familiar faces and talk about the good old days.”
Mountford said the sport of squash has seen a resurgence in Wollongong in recent years, with a new generation of players taking up the sport.
“In the last couple of years there have been quite a few people take up the sport and joined the competition.
“They’ve realised it’s one of the highest calorie-burning sports in the world and it’s an all-weather sport as well.”
Tickets are $60 for adults and $30 for juniors. For more information and to purchase tickets visit your local squash centre or contact Mountford on 0417 243 133.
