Ms Sudmalis is set to quit federal parliament at the next election after blasting NSW Liberal Party members over bullying.
The outgoing Gilmore MP said she was “honoured to accept the position as the Federal Coalition delegate to the United Nations General Assembly”.
“I am passionate about advocating for the rights of women and children in Australia and in developing nations. This opportunity will enable me to see important work achieved by the United Nations first-hand,” Ms Sudmalis said in a statement.
“I look forward to making a contribution to the discussion and forums that are held by the United Nations and seeing first-hand how STEM education initiatives are being pursued by our regional neighbours and global partners.
“I will continue to represent my constituents in addition to taking on this role.”
Ms Sudmalis will be joined in New York by former Labor government minister Ms Macklin, who is also retiring.
The bipartisan program starts in September and ends in December, meaning both MPs will be away from parliament for the rest of this year's sittings.
The MPs give speeches and attend UN-related events, working alongside Australian diplomats.
The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly opened on Tuesday and the general debate, which is expected to be attended by US President Donald Trump, starts next week.
Last year's parliamentary delegation members were Liberal National Party MP Warren Entsch and Labor senator Gavin Marshall.
