Herbert Harrigan and his family were the founders of Harrigan Ford. They opened the first Ford agency in July 1907 and unveiled the first petrol pump on the South Coast.
It was originally located at 243 Crown Street, Wollongong but the dealership now proudly stands at the top of the hill at Yallah.
The late John Elliott purchased Harrigan Ford in 1972 and he and Brett Elliott (current owner) developed it to the extent that it now employs over 70 local people.
Today Harrigan Motor Group is still at the top of its game and has held the status as the Illawarra’s number one Ford dealer for many years. It has now expanded to include the Isuzu Ute, Proton and Kia brands as well as the recent addition of Hyundai trucks. There is also a second dearlership operating in Moss Vale.
