The studio sees a diverse group of people with vastly different needs from spinal surgery and dancers to businessmen and first-time mums and Donna seems to have a unique connection with each.
What keeps her teaching after 20 years?
“My favourite clients are those who think they can’t move because of pain, disease or even obesity,” Donna said.
“There’s no need to get on the floor (or up again), we use equipment to support body movement and there is no reason to work with intolerable discomfort. If anything hurts let me know, there’s always another way.”

Watching Donna teach, it seems like she makes it up as she goes. She laughs, “Yes, perhaps but I am actually listening carefully with my ears, eyes and intuition - my experience allows me to make continuous ongoing adjustments and modifications for each client. I encourage them to explore the possible, listen to their body and work with what is reasonable for each individual.”
As clients leave, they give her a hug and thank her for her time. They comment on how much better they feel and confirm attendance for next week.
