The bones were discovered by someone in the park shortly before 4.45pm on Saturday, when police from the Sutherland Police Area Command were called to the area on Sir Bertram Stevens Drive.
Police established a crime scene and began a search of the area on Sunday. The discovery has since been referred to the homicide squad.
While a source has confirmed the bones are definitely human, forensic investigators are still yet to determine the gender or age.
It is understood the bones have been in the park for an extended period and there will be an opportunity for identification through DNA retrieval and possibly dental records.
