Marty Haynes, Christie Hayes and Ryan Cram, of i98fm, launched the annual fundraiser for 2018 at what will be the new home for the free family fun day at Illawarra Regional Airport.
The move is because of major works being undertaken at Croome Rd Sporting Complex to make way for the Albion Park Bypass.
i98fm Illawarra Convoy manager Mark Rigby said Wings over Illawarra had proven the airport can handle thousands of people affectively.
“And getting to the venue is made much easier being directly across the road from Albion Park Rail train station. We’ve got a massive day planned and look forward to seeing the Illawarra come out in force to support other families who are doing it tough due to life threatening medical conditions,” he said.
In 2017 $1.9 million was raised for the Illawarra Community Foundation to help local people. 714 trucks and 931 motorbikes traveled 70 kms from West Cliff Colliery.
Registrations are now open to trucks and motorcycles for a $30 donation.
During the last 13 years almost $11.5 million has been raised.
In 2018 the Convoy will begin at West Cliff Colliery at 8am before coming down Mt Ousley through Warrawong and past Stockland Shellharbour before finishing at Illawarra Regional Airport for the free family fun day.
