Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School parents Catherine Philpott and Rita Finlay-Joseph started THinGS in 2012 to bring their own background experiences of teaching and supporting performing arts and to support the school’s performing arts program.
More than 80 students feature in the latest production, which is based on a Mark Twain story of a modern day boy going back in time to visit Camelot and learning some of life's lessons on the way.
It features life sized props, realistic stage sets, live music, back drops and professional costumes.
Ms Finlay-Joseph said the volunteer-run theatre group saw the school community help with props and costumes.
“This year’s production crew is made up of myself and fellow parents Katrina Carroll, Catherine Philpott and Stephen and Sharon Hamilton,” she said.
“Our cast of 80 plus students have been voluntarily training for two school terms after school and the last three weekends in preparation for the show this week.
“Ex-students of THinGS , now in high school themselves, have come back as mentors to the younger students teaching them all the skills they learnt over the years in previous productions.
“They also run the lighting and sound for us.”
There will be a matinee and evening performance of ‘Kids in Camelot’ at the Fairy Meadow school on Wednesday, September 26.
