More than half of the Megastar field are set to head towards the lucrative qualifiers on Saturday night, but the group 1 winner must rely on luck to get into the field.
The Jason Mackay trained sprinter is one of five starters in the last week’s $75,000-to-the-winner decider at Dapto, which will look to contest the heats.
However, unlike four of her rivals last week, Zipping Tayla is the first emergency in the last of four qualifiers on Saturday.
Mackay had hoped to lock down a spot in the heats for his talented bitch on the back of her sensational victory in last Thursday’s Megastar.
“You have to look at the Millions now,” he told The Punt.
“It is on once a year but it will play a part in who draws right.
“We will try and qualify her at Wenty to get her into a semi.”
Mackay, who trains at Richmond Vale, has also nominated Zipping Tayla for a grade five over the 520m at Wenty.
Zipping Tayla is coming off the biggest win of her career after she stormed home along the fence to win the richest race in Illawarra greyhound racing in 30.00 seconds.
The bitch by Barcia Bale surged home to prevail by a half length over Peter Mantach’s Benkennie Chic, with the tiring Lagoon Rhett a half length away in third.
“We were really happy how she got it done,” Mackay said.
“We thought we would lead and hang on but she is a good little bitch.
“We are really pleased.”
Both Benkennie Chic and Lagoon Rhett will line up in the Wentworth Park qualifiers, with the Kanahooka trained Sunburnt Highway also set to travel to Sydney.
Megastar starter Sky Wave also heads to racing headquarters.
