The natural phenomenon comprising bioluminescent dinoflagellate has had photography enthusiasts snapping madly.
During the day the tide is a red blanket which has had people intrigued. But at night the real magic happens, when the red tide becomes a sea sparkle of fluorescent blues and greens.
Many people have been spending time all along the coast creating magical photographs of the otherworldly delight.
According to locals the red tide has been coming and going from the shorelines for as long as they can remember.
Julie Fourter of Eden sent in a small collection of photos taken in 2013 as well as a couple of images snapped in the last week from the air.
“The red tides have been going on for as long as we can remember, it was spread around the bay when we steamed our boat across to Kiah last week,” Ms Fourter said.
“We watch the sparkles when we steam the boat in the bay during the night, I have video of the bow waves sparkling in front of us as we go.”
