Walk With Wardy is a Mental Health Month activity to raise awareness and funds to reduce the risk of suicide in Australia.
Mind Blank founder Ally Kelly said every three hours someone in Australia loses their life.
Thursday’s mental health forum will help kick-start the Walk With Ward campaign which is now open for registrations
starting at 4pm at the University of Wollongong’s Clubs Function Room in Building 11.
Ms Kelly said the event will be held in a safe and fun environment. And will bring together people with lived experience of mental illness and the service providers that support the community.
Guest speaker is Suicide Prevention Australia chief executive Nieves Murray.
There will also be live entertainment and opportunities to try positive mental wellbeing activities.

In 2017 Bayswater man Michael Ward walked from Adelaide to Melbourne raise $57,000 for Mind Blank. He walked because his brother took his life at age 22. The campaign reached over 17,000 online followers. This year Mind Blank commemorates Wardy’s efforts by hosting the Walk With Wardy campaign.

About Alison Kelly
Ally Kelly is the founder and CEO of Mind Blank. She has led the charity through seven years of service, for which she was recognised in winning the 2017 Mental Health Matters Award for Mental Health Promotion. She is an experienced senior manager in the non-profit sector. Previously, her roles included work in the social services supporting marginalised community members and outreach services support to rough sleepers. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Crisis Communication and she is due to complete her Masters in Humanitarian studies in 2018.
