We are still a community where people are well known to each other and you can find a friendly, familiar face to greet you in most places you go.
To many people, Ross Hush is one of those smiling faces.
Mostly these days he is seen wearing his familiar smile at one of the many and varied performances and events at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
His face would be known to many in this community.
As the fitting and final part of the Behind the Curtains series, Ross shared some of his career memories with Illawarra Mercury reporter Desiree Savage.
He shared stories of some of the celebrities he has met and worked with over the years. International stars and Australian stars alike.
John Farnham, a WEC regular, calls him by his first name. Lenny Kravitz even almost once broke Ross’ nose, totally by accident of course.
The Behind the Curtains series was designed to give readers an insight into the wide variety of people in this region who do an array of different jobs in the entertainment industry.
We are blessed with a rich and diverse culture in our city.
Over the series we’ve met to people like audio engineer Shane Jerome who works with bands such as Dragon and You Am I.
We met Figtree merchandise manager Sharon Twigg who has worked with everyone from AC/DC, Pink, Katy Perry and The Wiggles.
We also met a Shellharbour make-up artists to the stars, Melissa Gigliotta who went from selling houses to doing the make-up for stars of stage and screen. A rich community indeed.
As Ross Hush says “you can’t get away with much because everyone knows everyone”. And that’s just how we like it isn’t it?
Next week sees the introduction of a new series looking at the varied working parts or our port and how a hub of industry in our region works together.
