MILESTONE MOMENT
I always read Adrian Devlin's ubiquitous contributions to the letters page in the hope of finding some opinions with which I can agree. I do try.

In his response to my letter (September 24, 2018) in which I criticised Prime Minister Morrison's lame defense of of Peter Dutton's misleading of Parliament, as found by a Senate Enquiry, Adrian was factually correct in pointing out that the Government does not have a majority in the Senate, hence support for Dutton was not assured, as it would have been in the Lower House.
His point lost all credibility however, when he described the Inquiry as "a complete set-up," adding, "but what else would you expect from Green Marxists?".
Despite what one may think of the structure of our Federal Parliament, the fact remains that it does include two legitimately elected Houses, and gratuitous denigration of one of them simply on the basis of political allegiance, does nothing to answer my concern over the "au pair," scandal and my criticism over the way it was handled.
The evidence considered by the Senate Inquiry was compelling and deserved more than the flippant response provided by Prime Minister Morrison.
On Adrian's next quite unrelated point however, regarding the "all expenses paid holiday to New York" for two retiring M.P.'s I am in complete agreement. Hallelujah.

A CRIMINAL ACT
It was noted last week that part one of the banking royal commission interim report was released, I am very hurt and also very suspicious that commissioner Hayne has called it bad misbehavior instead of a criminal act.
Sir I am very disappointed with your answer regarding this serious matter.
One would have to think what would be the outcome if this was a union official or delegate.
He/she would of received a summons straight off the bat, it really does make you wonder.

LABORING THE POINT
Minister Elliot keep your god damn hands off the Labor Day holiday.
What if there's been a steady decline in union membership.
All these workers benefited from those that fought and bleed for better conditions for workers who were being exploited by greedy bosses and companies in unsafe environments.
All these workers enjoy their annual leave, sick leave, etc etc hard fought for by past generations.
And yes many Aboriginal brothers are and have benefited from union struggles through the ages.
Find a day other than Labor Day.
Typical of a Liberal wanting to erase past in regards to Labor’s efforts to improve workers conditions
