Hawks’ recruit David Andersen was ejected after a fiery confrontation with KCC Egis’ Brandon Brown, as the Illawarra dominated the final of the Semi Mutiara Cup on Sunday night.
As their NBL rivals took on NBA rivals in the US this week, the Hawks completed their domination of the Malaysian tournament by cruising to victory against their Korean rivals in the final.
Andersen and Brown were taken out of the game, but the Hawks were otherwise in cruise control as Tim Coenraad finished with 13 points in the 96-69 victory.

The Hawks have had an impressive NBL pre-season, having been within reach of the Blitz trophy, before losing their final game against Melbourne United.
And now they return to Wollongong to prepare for their opening competition game against United, the reigning champions on Friday.
Andersen had 11 and AJ Ogilvy 10 as the Hawks’ big men dominated the tournament.
US College talent Emmett Naar was also involved, with five assists, as Brian Conklin, who has been impressive throughout the pre-season campaign, had 11 rebounds.
