Halls carded rounds of 76, 81, 72 and 79 to finish sixth overall, taking out the 13 Years Boy's scratch crown in the process.
Links Shell Cove’s Bradley Wills finished runner-up in the boy's 14 years nett.
Heaton carded rounds of 73, 69, 74, and 73 to finish in a tie for fourth, six shots behind the winner, Western Australia’s Hayden Hopewell.
Kiama pair contend at NSW Men's Fourball final
Kiama's Mark Cull amd Neill Dell have finished third in the State Final of the NSW Men's Fourball Championship at Bonville Golf Resort.
The pair combined to card rounds of plus 4 & plus 8 in the two-day event, eventually finishing six shots behind the winners, Jason Fog & Gerard Plevey of Penrith.
Club Championships in full swing
Club Championships are underway at The Grange and Kiama with two rounds completed.
Trent Cadger currently leads by just one at the Grange with a total of 150 (75, 75) from Dean Jones 151 (73, 78) and Glen Gibson (75,76), while at Kiama Golf Club it’s a logjam with the top seven players separated by just six shots. Eddie Ward (66, 76) and Beau Fraser (71, 71) currently lead the way on 142.
Wills prevails
Strong winds and driving rain no doubt played a part in restricting the field to just 20 juniors for the annual Russell Vale Junior Classic.
Bradley Wills of the Links Shell Cove carded a 72 to take out the championship, from Selena Bosevski, who shot a 77.
The Illawarra Cup, awarded for the best nett score on the day by a boy or girl from an Illawarra based club went to Tom Eagleton with a score of 62. Runner-up was Callum Cooney, with Sienna Clarke in third place.
The boys and girls nine-hole winners were Angus Williams (26) and Bella-Rose Pond 41
Taylor made in Gerringong
In a field affected by the Country Championships and some clubs hosting their club championships, it was Gerringong local Luke Taylor who prevailed with a score of 75 to win by two from Christopher Bramley (Shoalhaven Heads). A grade Nett winner Ben Purcell (Gerringong) 71, runner-up Jarrod Woolmer (Russell Vale) 74 on countback.
Illawarra miss out at Country Championships
Danny Nesbitt was the best of the Illawarra squad at the NSW Country Championships which were played at Goulburn Golf Club last weekend.
Nesbitt finished in a tie for eighth on even par 140, eight shots behind the winner, Josh Armstrong from the ACT. Paul Fairall of Russel Vale and Jamie Krzyszczak of the Link Shell Cove were another shot back on one over par 141 in a tie for 12th.
In the Interdistrict teams' event, Golf Illawarra eventually finished fourth at six over par 566, thirteen shots behind the winners, Central West.
