After last week’s meeting was abandoned, the Illawarra Turf Club is set to race on another rain-affected track. It is rated a Heavy 10.
Those conditions don’t worry Bateup, who will saddle up last start winner Arrows Destiny in the Illawarra Toyota Fleet Specialists Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m).
“He’s Mr Versatile,” the Kembla trainer said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s wet, dry or anything in between, he always handles it. He has won three of his past five now too so he’s in good form.”
Bateup also saddles up Lacasa Maria Rosa in The Disability Trust Maiden Plate (1400m). “She’s racing really well and will appreciate the wet track, but we will need a bit of luck from the wide barrier,” she said.
