Clouds are expected to build in coming hours, with a very-high chance of showers likely during the afternoon and evening.
Wollongong is forecast to receive 15 to 20 millimetres of rain on Saturday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, while Albion Park could see falls of between 15 and 25 millimetres.
Despite the current sunshine and temperatures hovering around 20 degrees, beachgoers have been warned to steer clear of the ocean.
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating and swimming along the Sydney, Illawarra and Batemans coasts on Saturday.

The primary swell direction is from the south to southeast.
Seas of 1-1.5 metres are expected to increase to 1.5-2 metres during the afternoon.
Saturday afternoon’s forecast wet weather will kick-off what’s tipped to be an extended period of showery conditions for Wollongong.
There’s a very-high chance of showers again on Sunday and between 10 and 15 millimetres could fall in the city. Heavier totals of up 20mm are possible on Monday.
A shower or two is likely – along with a possible afternoon or evening thunderstorm – on Tuesday.
Wednesday will bring showers and a potential storm, while there’s just a slight change of shower on Thursday.
At this stage, Friday should be partly cloudy and rain-free in Wollongong.
