Michael Shannon Gentles, 36, is accused of committing an act cruelty on the animal following an incident at Kioloa in June.
He has pleaded guilty to one charge of throw or propel an object likely to cause damage or injury, but was yet to enter a plea to the charge of committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.
Police allege Gentles used a bow and arrow that struck and injured a kangaroo in the Murramarang National Park about 11.30am on June 23.
He will next appear in Milton on November 15.
