The Australasian Podiatry Council president Brenda Tonkin said it’s not uncommon to hear we’ve become too sedentary in modern life but she said not everyone fell into this category.
Doctors and nurses, tradespeople, factory workers, hospitality and retail staff, sports and recreation employees, and farmers can spend all day on their feet, every day.
This year's theme for Foot Health Month is “walk well, work well”. Feet take a lot of force over extended periods of time so pain can be common in the heels, balls of the feet and arches.
Proper foot care is paramount to relieving discomfort and preventing more serious injuries from occurring.

“We opened up our Figtree store in November 2017, Corrimal in April 2018 and plan to open up Southgate Sylvania on October 30,” they said.
“Our brands have been specifically chosen to support a range of different feet and the foot challenges people have.
“We like to think of ourselves as the first line of defence in preventing issues of the feet and posture plus we also consider ourselves to be the first line of defence before people spend hundreds of dollars on resolving issues.
“Sometimes a good supportive shoe specific to the needs of the customer is the answer. It also doesn’t hurt that we have a lovely range of shoes catering to different styles, different colours and different makes.
“As one of our brands, Vionic, states…’Style, it doesn’t have to hurt’. We understand fitting and we understand the challenges people may have such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, arthritis etc.
“Our expertise along with our everyday approach to these challenges means we are able to find a style shoe for just about everyone.
“We are very much about the community and ensuring that we have a relationship with our customers.
“It sounds a bit corny but we try and deliver an experience - not a transaction. The other difference that we deliver is our brands which again have been specifically chosen.”
They have boots, wedges, orthotic friendly, fitness, sandals, workwear, sandals, performance and much more.
