The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), an initiative of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and staffed by volunteers, delivered the hay to Mayberry Farm in Burrawang and four neighbours on Saturday, October 13.
Mayberry Farm owner Tammy Whatman said the family was grateful for the much-needed delivery.
"It means do much to know that people really care and are prepared to help. This makes a huge difference,” she said.
The delivery was shipped over from Tasmania after hay stores in NSW, QLD and VIC have become increasingly difficult to source in recent months.
A truck load of hay has increased in price from around $5,000 per truckload to more than $19,000.
Ms Whatman said the hay will be blended with other by-product fodder such as citrus pulp and brewer's yeast to extend the recent supply of hay to the farm’s 270 head of cattle.
RRT spokesperson, Lloyd Grimshaw, said that RRT was committed to helping farmers through and would continue to deliver “hay and hope.”
“The farmers and their families have been doing it tough, and we hope this humble contribution will help them in some way,” Mr Grimshaw said.
“This delivery is an opportunity for the community to band together and show our farmers we stand with them - that mates stand with mates,” he said.
Federal member for Hume Angus Taylor and state member for Goulburn Pru Goward were on site at Mayberry Farm for the delivery from RRT and to join in on the afternoon’s activities, including a free sausage sizzle.
Mr Taylor, a farmer himself, said he would continue to support the efforts of organisations like RRT and rally for farmers in need.
“We know the farmers have been suffering immensely and I am grateful and in awe of their tenacity to battle through these challenging times,” Mr Taylor said.
“To the Rapid Relief Team, I thank you for your persistent efforts and ongoing generosity,” he said.
Ms Goward echoed these sentiments and encouraged the community to continue donating to drought relief appeals.
“I thank everyone who is digging deep, the Rapid Relief Team for their hard work today especially, every little bit helps” she said.
