The Gwenda Markwell stable confirmed to The Punt on Tuesday the decision to send the classy mare to the paddock for a well-earned break.
The daughter of Nicconi ended a run of sixth consecutive placings this preparation when finishing 12th on a severally rain-affected track over the weekend.
Markwell will now look towards an autumn campaign, where another date with the Provincial Championships appears to be on the cards.
Mandylion claimed the Kembla Grange qualifier as a three-year-old filly earlier this year and will be eligible to contest the top provincial series again in 2019.
The Provincial Championships final will again be held on day two of The Championships.
Markwell’s stable has started the new season in top form. The trainer had a winning double at her home track on Saturday.
