The carnival, which was held on the middle weekend of the school holidays was attended by children as young as three.
Lake Illawarra Little Athletics Club’s Kevin McGarry said, despite the heavy rain and strong winds, the carnival was a big success.
“Late in the afternoon the rain got pretty heavy so it was a bit challenging,” McGarry said. “The athletes, to their credit, kept on wanting to compete and still had a good time.”
The club remains on the hunt for new members, with McGarry urging those interested to sign up for a sport with a multitude of benefits for participants.
“Athletics is a platform for every sport, some of the athletes who have been through little athletics include Corey Gameiro and Kane Linnett. Athletics plays a major part in the development of a range of skills.”
