The victim was left sporting a deep gash to his left ear after he was attacked by two men, one armed with a tomahawk, after turning up at Haynes’ home in Fernhill for an intimate, early morning rendezvous.
Court documents said Haynes, 26, whose occupation was listed as “prostitute” on police paperwork, met the 37-year-old Sydney man via the dating website Seeking Arrangement - which facilitates “sugar baby” and “sugar daddy” meetings in exchange for money or an allowance.
The man allegedly agreed to pay Haynes $1000 a week, but then changed the agreement to $300 per meeting. The pair met at Haynes’ mother’s house on Buckland Street about 4am last Friday and began having sex after the man paid her $300.
It is alleged Haynes stopped the encounter mid-way through and asked for another $700 but the man refused, stating the agreed amount was $300.
A short time later Haynes allegedly made a phone call to a man, saying “I need you right now”. Moments later, Michael Sullivan and a second man turned up at the house.
The two men allegedly confronted the victim, demanding he pay Haynes the full $1000. When he said he had no more money, the second man allegedly hit him in the ear with a tomahawk and took the $300.
The victim fled and alerted police. He was hospitalised and has his ear stitched.
Police arrested Haynes and charged her with demand property by force in company. She was refused bail in Wollongong court on Saturday and again on Tuesday, despite claiming she wasn’t involved in the robbery and begging to be released.
“I didn’t have anything to do with it,” she wailed as she appeared in court via videolink from Silverwater women’s prison.
However, Magistrate Susan McGowan would not be moved, saying the allegations were “alarming”.
Meantime, Sullivan was arrested on Saturday. He chose not to instruct a solicitor or appear in court on Tuesday. His bail was formally refused.
Both cases will return to court on October 31.
