The girls kicked things off during the October holidays with the under 15 country championships up in Raymond Terrace.
The Greater Illawarra Zone side finished the tournament in fifth place, defeating North Coastal by just one run in a thrilling end to the tournament.
The under 15 girls returned to action last weekend in the opening round of the Margaret Pedin Shield. Playing on University Oval, the side played out another thriller, this time suffering a seven-run loss to Bankstown.
Greater Illawarra bowled Bankstown out for 185 and reached 178 in reply, bowled out just shy of their target. Tara Rudd was the pick of the batters, scoring 78.
The boys teams played a round of trials on Sunday, with their respective competitions kicking off this weekend.
