Police said the 56-year-old victim told officers she got into a taxi outside a pub on Pioneer Road at Towradgi around 2.40am, intending to head home.
Police will allege Rogers, who was unknown to the woman, also hoped into the taxi and the pair was driven to an address in Tarrawanna.
It is alleged Rogers followed her into the house and sexually assaulted her before leaving.
Police launched an investigation and released a photo of Rogers on Facebook, asking for public help in identifying him.
He was arrested at a home in Fairy Meadow on Tuesday and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sexual assault and inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse.
He chose not to appear in court or apply for bail during a brief mention of his matter on Wednesday. The case was adjourned to December 5.
