The UOW School of Law has been ranked among the world’s top 100 of its kind for the second year running.
UOW placed 90th in world in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.
The rankings released on Thursday also revealed UOW did well in education (126-150 band), business and economics ((176-200) and social sciences, placing in the top 250-300 universities in the world.
The 2019 rankings made it two out of two for the School of Law after it was also ranked in the world’s top 100 in 2018, which was the first time the Times Higher Education World University Rankings extended its methodology to include law as a separate subject.
Executive Dean of the Faculty of Law, Humanities and Arts Professor Theo Farrell welcomed the ranking as recognition of the academic staff’s commitment to excellence in both teaching and research.
“This is a fantastic result for our Law School, and the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security at UOW which contains a large international law group,” Professor Farrell said.
“This has been an exciting year for us, with the launch of law at UOW’s new campus in Liverpool. This will see undergraduate students in south western Sydney benefit from an outstanding UOW education in law.”
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are released annually and provide a league table of the world’s best universities.
In the overall 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings announced earlier this year UOW was named among the world’s top 250 universities, and among the top 10 universities in Australia.
