This Sunday’s event raises funds for the children’s charity’s Christmas party, which gives 4300 Illawarra kids and their carers a much-needed night out.

Kids like Barrack Heights’ 10-year-old Dane Robinson. Born with quad cerebral palsy, Dane requires a wheelchair for mobility and has limited speech.

But he loves to laugh, said mum Sally: “Dane and younger brother Cooper are really close and Cooper loves nothing more than making his brother laugh.”

Dane and Cooper are both involved in the KidzWish Sports Academy Program and the family is looking forward to the Christmas Party on November 22.

“The Christmas party enables the children to have a break from hospitals, therapies, and everyday stresses,” KidzWish spokesman Karouna Micheal said.

“They come to the party and they have one thing in common – they are all local kids and they all deserve the same opportunities. It’s all about having fun and a break ... and letting the kids just be kids.

“Every little bit of support helps, and proceeds from the motorcycle ride help us put on this great event.”

It costs $25 per person to get involved in the ride and each online registration includes a free orange KidzWish bandanna to wear on the day.

The riders and their passengers will leave from The Oaks Hotel in Albion Park at 10am on Sunday. They’ll travel to Bomaderry and back through Gerroa, Gerringong and Kiama and will arrive back at the hotel at midday for a family fun day.
