Some of Sydney and the south coast’s best swimmers will descend on the University of Wollongong this weekend for the annual Wollongong Swimming Club long course meet.

Contested on Saturday and Sunday, the event gives junior swimmers the opportunity to swim a qualifying time for state and national championships.
With a focus on qualifying times, the meet is centred around the 100 metre distance for each of the age groups, with opens 50m, 200m and medley races held for all strokes.
The competition begins on Saturday afternoon with the long-distance freestyle events and 100 metre breastroke races.
The remainder of the 100m events will be held Sunday, alongside opens 200m events for each of the form strokes.
With state championships for the older children being held in mid-December, the competition will provide swimmers with valuable race experience.
