Far away from winning Ashes series and World Cups, Smith and fellow former Australian player Shane Watson have been named in a Sutherland team for a Kingsgrove Cup trial match against Greater Illawarra.
The son of Steve Waugh, Austin and Minnamurra’s Flynn Parker, who played with Kiama before joining Sutherland, are also included in the 12-man squad.
Smith and Test openers David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were banned by Cricket Australia for 12 months in March, following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
Bancroft was captured on the match television coverage using on the ball.
Warner is playing Sydney grade cricket with Randwick, while Smith returned to Sutherland.
The Greater Illawarra squad, which includes the South Coast, Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven, will be named later on Tuesday.
The Twenty20 match will start at 6pm.
