What a particular disgrace is the Denmark Hotel in Bulli which stands opposite the beautiful old magnificently kept and maintained Uniting Church. Development is all around the old hotel and still it continues to deteriorate with no one moving on its preservation.
This building is heritage listed. What a joke. Where is the Heritage officer? What are the responsibilities of that person? What is the point of its listing? To what end is its purpose?
There is absolutely no care or responsibility taken that is apparent. It has reached the point now with demolition appearing to be the only option. Was there ever a long term plan?
I have written countless times about what was a fine piece of early Illawarra history and now a shambles. Come on Wollongong Council make a decision and demand that the owners do something permanent not just when irate people like me draw attention to it again.
Thank God for community members like Mick Chamberlain and his band of workers who remove these hideous eyesores of what is blatantly vandalism.
Could those doing community service, instead of jail time, make beautifying those eyesores part of their time served or better still making those responsible who seem to be mostly young people when they are caught and not named be made to restore the structures with their parents in tow to see it done ?
i can hear the response to this...as in the movie The Castle … “Tell she's. dreamin”. So what's the answer? Mick Chamberlain and team cant be everywhere.

IT’S SOCIAL ENGINEERING
In response to the article by Ben Langford, ‘Climate sheriff rides again’ (Illawarra Mercury, Friday October 19, 2018) for a moment the title made me think of "Smokey and the Bandit rides again".
I question the Lancaster Mayor's push for renewable energy. South Australia had 40 percent renewables while the remainder of the power came from an interconnector to Victoria which had coal-fired power stations.
When the interconnector broke during a storm the state went into blackout. People trapped in elevators and hospitals on emergency power, it was complete chaos.
There is plenty of evidence to refute the exaggerated propaganda of climate change, however the UN agenda is a very real threat. In the most recent alarmism from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change.
The IPCC demand we close both the coal and beef industries in Australia. In addition the Paris agreement has a litany of politically correct issues. Signatories must "respect and promote human rights, the right to health care, the right of indigenous peoples, migrants, children, persons with disabilities, and people in vulnerable situations and the right to development, also gender equality and LGBTQI rights, empowerment of women and intergenerational equality."
In that one paragraph everyone can see that climate alarm is a social engineering project involving much more greenhouse gas emissions.
